Exhaust valve/flapper-revisited.

I think I read most of the posts out there and I did not find my answer. The questions is this. Since the underseat termis were installed by the dealer I am down on power. The dealer has reset the TPS several times and recently replaced the TPS. Still runs poor. I disconnected the exhaust cables and it runs GREAT. I am back to power wheelies. Should I push for a new ECU or leave the cables off ? (which did turn on the warning light). What was the final best fix?

Thanks
Bob

+1 on new ECU. You paid good money for it so make them give you one that works.

So last week I had the slipon ECU put on and reset. the bike was down on power. It ran fine but power was less and no power wheelies in 2nd. I read your post and unplugged the connector to the flapper motor. I wrenched the big nut on the flapper motor to make shure it was open. Took it for a ride and viola. Power is back and the front wheel is in the air. Apparently the new ECU is leaving the flapper closed all the time. I'm going to try and get it replaced or leave the wire connected and disconnect the cables that operate the flapper. The CEL was on with the wire disconnected.

Sounds like another bad ECU, it should be under warranty. There must have been a bad batch of these because there has been a handful of guys with this problem.

So there is no way to disable the flapper (without drilling and welding ala GEEBEE) without a service code of sorts on the display?
