Wooden Brake Feel?
Hi all, does anyone else have a really dead 'wooden' feel to thier front brakes on standard HM's?
I don't have an issue with the power of the brakes, one reason I bought a standard is that I felt the monblocs were overkill on this bike as i had them on my 1098. The issue is just feel, I have relatively small hands so run the lever all the way in on the adjuster but there's just no travel or feel at all in the lever.
Anyone else had similar?
Cheers

Not really, I like the brakes and the fact they have little play. Now when I get back on my FZ1, the lever feels soft and way too much play.............same with the clutch.
Out!

Gotta ask though, what's the mileage of your bike? Coz if it's brand new, maybe the pads and disc are still settling in.

I've done about 1500 miles, a lot of it in poor UK weather so I think they're bedded in pretty good. It almost feels like there's too much fluid in there?
I might upgrade the hoses and see how it feels after the bleed.

The brakes have been an issue for me.
Generally, I tend to be too gentle on the brakes when riding a motorcycle. I hate braking. Nothing irritates me more than when I over brake. I use a lot of rear brake, especially on the track.
On the track, I've noticed the brakes on the the HYPE seem to have too much play before engaging and then once engaged grabbed abruptly and eventually settled out.. This all happens in about 200 milliseconds I would guess. I never use more than one finger while braking on the track.
Now I've exposed myself to having two bad habits on the track...
In short, I think the brakes on the hyper have very little feel for the first few micro moments of braking, then settle out. I got used to it quickly
I really have no idea what to attribute this to besides perhaps the floating nature of the pads.
???

BLITZ - You use more rear on the track? For the HM or any bike you ride? Did you resort to this due to the feel issue you have on the front?
Btw, on my other bikes, I had the pressure plates removed from the caliper (the ones pushing the pads) giving them the floating affect (for less friction purpose) and it didn't affect the initial bite.

A ducati rear brake that actually works? C'mon, pull the other one!!!
My rear brake sucks but all my ducatis have had a poor feeling rear brake until changing the pads to a race spec pad, then they worked really well, especially on my 999.
Hmmm, reckon i'll change the hoses, bleed them out and see. If nothing else it will upgrade the fitings to stainless to beat the british weather!
