Question What is the best price for HM?

I just sold my other bike and I'm looking for HM. I'm not 100% if I need S. How much room do I have between dealer cost and MSRP?

Not sure if there is much room. You'll probably start at MSRP and negotiate the freight and setup. It's a hot bike and I think most dealers at least here in Seattle have no need to knock much off if any. I would get the base as use the extra $2K for goodies. You may also find a demo for a bit lower

Good luck on the purchase

You guys a bunch of lucky sods! Compared to my country (Malaysia) after convertion that's dirt cheap. We have a 120% import tax.
I am getting my HMs today and it cost just under USD30k.
Well, it's a Ducati, well worth it.

So Eldiablo, compare the price with Malaysia and go get yourself a HM.
It's worth it no matter the price.

I got mine base model for right around $12,500 or MSRP OTD. I traded something in and negotiated some parts, so it was a little indirect way of getting there.

You might check the classifieds as there are some used ones around now with few miles.

Always negotiate hard. There is room to move no matter how or where you buy.

Out!

Bleed the dealer dry!!! If they want to sell it bad enough there is at least 1300 to negotiate with.

Interesting Joe1l, I wish someone who works at a dealership, or who worked at one before, could give us an idea what margins dealers have. For some reason this seems to be Top Secret info in the land of biking forums, whereas in the UK we pretty-much know that car dealers have around 10% to play with.

It would be helpful to know because if it's 10%, then it would be fair if the dealer and I have 5% each IMO. Dealers in the UK are currently offering me 2% to 2.6% discount, which isn't enough quite frankly.

I appreciate that Ducati's are a premium product but I don't subscribe to the ethos 'If you can't afford it... (look elsewhere)' etc - I'm just the kind of guy who likes to get a deal, and I spoke to someone recently who's bought lots of valuable bikes (Ducati, MV, Harley etc) and he advised that I should settle for no less than 5% discount. However, if you want to build a rapport with a certain dealership, you limit your options.

What makes it worse is that my chosen Ducati dealer (not the closest) took my telephone number last week and made a point of saying "Don't worry, I won't hassle you," but I actually *want* him to call me and say 'Okay mate, let's do a deal'. Doh! Are dealers really THAT blasé, that they would lose a sale and new customer for the sake of an extra £250 on a bike worth £9250, especially as I'm buying £500 worth of (presumably more profitable) extras?

If you really want the best price, buy a used one. Look for one that already has the Termi 2-1 installed. There's been a bunch of Hypers on ebay over the winter, and there's been several right here on ducati.ms. A lot of guys have bought them and decided it's not their thing.

I wish I'd waited and bought a used one. Could have saved thousands. I didn't expect so many to come on the market so soon though.

Well when I went shopping in Jan - Feb, everyone was offering a min of 1000 of the price of the hyper...that being said, i knew there was more to be had. Delivery and prep were different from dealer to dealer, one dealer want 675, another 300...well, I ended paying something like 11,200 + tax for my standard thats all. She told me I had them right at cost, which i dont believe. My guess is 10,800 -11k for cost. Also tell them you want financing too....even if you dont, they make money on that as well, so they will be more inclined to drop the price farther. In the end remember, the dealer is never your friend and that you worked hard for your money, so they should too!!
