Break In Question
So I have less than 200 miles on the Hyper due to the shitty weather (as always) here in cincy. there is a trackday at Putnam next week (STT) and I was thinking about going. Do I ride in the medium group and just go putt around and have fun (yeah right) or can I run in the expert class at full titlt and not hurt the f'n thing? Anyone? Also, should I look for any certain bolts loosening up? I dont have the thing wired for race as I will not be racing this one.
Thanks.

for your track day group selection ... what group do you normally ride in? that is the group you should take your hypertard out in.
as for nuts/bolts to check during/after break-in period ... if you are on a track, you should check ALL the torques before and after the track day. who knows what mood luca was in when he tightened the front axle nut when assembling your hypertard at the factory ... or worse, the tech at your dealership when they did the PDI on your hypertard.

try and wait till your 600mi service, I wouldn't ride her real hard with the break-in oil, just my opinion, Alex

Thanks. I race with WERA so I carry a license and run in the expert group obviously, but wasnt sure about hammering the Duc with only 200 miles on her. I guess I will just hold off and break her in right once the weather finally breaks here.

I have never bounced them off the limiter but after 300 miles all 3 of my Ducs got ridden "spirited" without being abused. I won't baby my bikes after the first service so why go easy on them before. If something is going to go wrong it will, that's the beauty of a 2 yr unlimited mile warranty.

Quote from dealer when I asked how I should run the bike in : "Give it a few hundred km's to scrub the tires in then ride it like you stole it!"
so I am.. hehe, that said I'm not fanging it up over the 5-6k rev mark much as I don't need to riding to work in traffic!

Thats a great article. I break in all my bikes that way especially the dirt bikes.
I had the HM broken in on the dyno for this reason...it's all about establishing a good ring seal. Doesnt mean you have to wrap the shit out of it...just put a solid load on the motor on accel and decel

Yep, pretty much. The article has been around for a while. We read it before breaking in our last motorcycle under load
It's still going strong!
