Powercommander question
I see on Powercommander's website that they now have a part number and a "comming soon". I know I've read on here that even with a PC you still need the a DP ecu. Well, I looked at the PC application for the Monster 1000, I believe basically the same engine, and they had maps for stock ecu's and they adjusted fuel at partial throttle openings down to almost idle. Does this mean the new PC will work with the stock ecu on the HM? They didn't have any listings for full system maps, only slip on's, so I don't know about controlling the exhaust valve.
PS. Someone smarter than I needs to come up with a simple resistor to bypass the servo motor anyway. hint hint.

I don' t know if the PC will work with the stock ECU.
Even if it does, however, having the PC hardware and map from a similar bike is one thing, but I suspect having the map tuned to the unique HM exhaust system, cams etc. is where the real benefit is derived. Apparently, that HM specific map is not yet available from PC. Without ths map from PC, you're looking at dyno time to derive your own from scratch.

I've tried to get the status from Dynojet regarding the PCIII for several months but up until a couple of weeks ago, they did not have an anticipated launch date. The PCIII "must" be used with a DP ECU, otherwise you will not be able to tune below 25% throttle. Others on here are using the PCIII from Monsters and Multistradas but Dynojet didn't advise this and said they couldn't provide support so it's kind of a roll of the dice. As soon as they're available, I'll be getting a PCIII with full exhaust and getting it on the dyno. Specific tuning gains can be seen over even generic maps that Dynojet will provide.

I have a Rapid Bike 3 unit for my HM that I just received along with 3 maps, 1 for the stock HM, and two other maps originally made for the DS1000 engine with termi exhaust, open airbox, each with different fuel and ignition advance maps. The RB3 can be used with the stock ECU or the DP ECU. I'm also getting a wideband 02 data logger to verify that my fueling is correct.
The RB3 is like an enhanced PC. With the RB3, you can map each cylinder individually and alter fuel and ignition curves. The PC only allows for changing the amount of fuel. I'm going to install this in the next couple of weeks and compare my current setup with the results. I'll post an update later and if I'm able to come up with a good map, I'll make it available to whoever wants it.

I'm sure the issue is the same as with the 1098. The HM has an O2 sensor, the stock ECU looks for it. If it doesn't see it, it throws an error. The PC III for the 1098 and stock ECU only maps the area significantly above low RPM range because in that range low RPM range the ECU will adjust based on the signal from the O2 sensor. This may not be 100% technically correct, but I think that's the gist of it.

I didn't make my post quite clear. I guess I was just assuming that the DS1000 on the monster also used an O2 sensor. That was my question about the low rpm fueling, I was wondering how it did it with the stock ecu.
So how does the Rapid Bike 3 deal with the O2 sensor and exhaust valve when you have a full system and stock ecu? Also, what is their website?
PS, the last powercommander I had (pcIIIusb) allowed for individual cylinder trims and tps resetting also.

Contact Al at www.moto4us.com
Info on the RB here... http://www.dynotech.pl/rapidbike_pliki/rapid3.htm
I'm using the DP ECU so I don't have the specifics in response to your question. I do know that RB has a plug-in 02 eliminator that will only work with their unit.

Contact Al at www.moto4us.com he'll set you up, but you might want to wait till I have mine set up and provide an update on how well it works.

That sounds like a good idea to me.
