How much will you really pay out the door?
I went to see a friend in the bay area today who just bought a brand new Ducati Monster S2R 1000 last Friday, which he negotiated down to almost the MSRP price as the actual out the door price! in other words almost tax free (8.25% in California), free setup fees, and free registration. I told him there is no way that we are in any negotiation position with the Hypermotard. I never bought a Ducati before, I am curious how much the actual out the door price of our beloved Hypermotard S will be.
Other threads have compared MSRP prices in different countries, looking at exchange rates, but that's point less. Outside US, the published price often include taxes. In US, we have different taxes in different states. Then, let's take into account all setup fees, registration, etc.
So, how much will you pay out the door i.e. total cost of your hypermotard?
I am curious to compare Europe like Italy, France, Spain, Germany, UK,
with different states in US, and other countries.

In Germany you might get 3% discount if you pay cash...
As far as I know the demand for HMs is very high and since it is a new bike, dealers don't need to give any discount. I heard the main german dealers recieved one single bike each - more to come in Juni/July.

Good luck getting MSRP out the door in CA. Or any state for that matter. You may get lucky and find a dealer that has a few that are not spoken for. In that case, I imagine you won't get that type of a deal until next year. Unless of course the bike bombs. Not likey tho'.
Good luck. Your buddy buy at Peninsula?

a lot... $14ks for the bike, plus tax (8.25%) plus dealer prep and DMV fees. It will be way over 15 grands out the door...
By the time you add the few options I'll be getting while I own the bike, plus couple grands interest for a conventional loan over let's say 3 years, this thing will cost way over 20 grands.
That is a lot of money.
The only positive thing is that it's a kind of bike that holds the used value better than a Jap.

I talked to my "dealer", no discount on the HM, they will not not even have enough of them... he did a guesstimate based on the HM 1100 S MSRP of $14k + California tax at 8.25% + delivery charges + setup fees + DMV fees based on other similar Ducatis, it looks like around $16,150.00 out the door
We'll know exactly on June 29th
http://www.ducati.com/od/ducatinorth...?eventId=16161
as the bike should be ready at least for those who ordered them last year
At least we should beat Spain on price
