I've always been impressed by Xaus. I never get tired of watching his sprint to the front after the rain/restart at Mugello in '04 on the hand-me-down Ducati GP bike.
He should do some instructing at American Supercamp. I happen to like the part where they make you put one hand on the gas cap and slide the bike on the wet track.

Thanks for the reminder of that teaching technique. I have signed up for a refresher course in Santa Rosa this September. If you are going to be out here, you might join the party. For sure, you will see me try to "out Xaus" on the clay track. LOL..............

has been/never was
It was the kiss of death when Foggy anointed him hier apparent to his Ducati throne, I put him in the category of Barros, Checha, Chili, Muggeridge, Roberts Jr., Walker and the like... they rarely win, often chuck, and really can showboat coming in 10th.
Sorry dudes, who is better for Ducati's brand?
Bayliss, Capirossi, Fogarty, Stoner etc
or
Xaus, Gibernau etc?
dont even bring up Corser (pretty boy)

Agree with your comments. But are there any pictures of them that are as entertaining as this one ? I think Ducati should make up a poster for the dealers with this picture. If only to make a point on that "hypermotard" idea.
Just a thought.

Xaus has more talent than what we know. His crashing reputation preceeded him, but notice the improvement the last couple years? He is very entertaining, you need that no matter what kind of racing your talking about. His win this year in somewhat wet conditions was impressive. Very smooth and in control. Hes ahead or abrest of Lanzi, even on a year old bike.
Hes still learning and getting better. I like Xaus in much the same way as Haga. I like their aggressiveness. I would like to see him on a factory bike in 08.

haga is a class act.. did you see his starts in 15th place at assen and then in 5th by the end of the first lap and in 1st by the 5th lap. Awesome. I wish he didnt have that ephedra scandal the year Edwards "won" on the RC51.
