HM = newbie
New here and what a great site.
I have been looking for a Motard style bike for a couple of months and nearly passed on the Ducati....that is until I saw the HM. I wanted a bike that I could ride on the street and dirt roads. Something that was not overtly wide nor underpowered.
KTM never entered the picture because of cost, BMW to bulky,Buell Ulyssess came close but the HM blows them all out of the water, value,style and engine.
This will be my first Ducati, I have always lusted after them but we really never had a quality dealer until now. He won't have an HM until June or July but he does allow test rides of what he has...
Maybe later I'll be trading my Blackbird in on a 1098.
After reading through the board I decided to put my money down,looks like I'll be #3 on the list. YaaHooo.

Welcome to Ducati.ms! Keep us posted on your bike and when it arrives we will require some photos.

Hypermotard chain adjustment
I have a hypermotard on order for July and just wondered how one does the chain adjustment? All the service manuals for the other single sided swing arm Ducatis say you need to take the bike to a dealer to get the chain adjusted....NOT

Excellent link for reference, BHD
The chain adjustment question had me wondering for a second; I knew how to do it, but couldn't remember if the spanner was included in the tool kit for the 748 I once had. The picture reminded me that it was, so hopefully a spanner will be in the Hypermotard's tool kit too.

If the direction Ducati has taken with their "tool kits" of late is any indication, the HM kit will consist of a spark plug wrench, a 3mm allen key, a 5/16" open end wrench, and a plastic handle that doesn't fit anything...

I've heard this repeated several times, but just to clarify, the HM swingarm is certainly similar to the 916's, but definitely not the same! (Though chain adjustment procedure is likely identical)

Thanks for clarifying that.
(BTW Scott - Are you loving the Suns? I lived in the valley during the last title run and this is even better. Wish I was there.)
