Nice! Thanks for sharing the pictures. Hopefully there will be a magazine road test soon.

I am really impressed with Ducati for not going cheap and ugly with the details in the process of turning the prototype into a production bike. I really didn't think things like the magnesium-color side covers and the dimpled front sprocket cover would carry over onto the production bike, and the passenger footpeg brackets are just gorgeous.
One thing - I've only seen the pre-production base models with the Y-spoke wheels. I though the base was going to have the five spoke from the Monster S2R?

S2R?

No offense, first thing I'm doing when I get my HM is removing the passenger brackets. Did the same on my Multistrada, much niver looking bike without them!

I'm just very thankful that Ducati gives you the option by making them removable.
I know that they will be off my bike most of the time.

Every pic I've seen of either HM model showed them with the 10-spokes. As far as I know, the base model has cast aluminum wheels, while the S comes with forged wheels...

I was wondering about that, too... It seems like all the pictures of the S model show it as a solo-only model (which would be fine by me, anyway). Or maybe they're modular, like the ones on the 1098, so you can remove them easily any time you want?

So does anyone know for sure if the side cases are magnesium?

I thought that I read somewhere that magnesium was used on the prototype only, but I haven't been able to find confirmation of that now.
I expect that they will be aluminum, but I can hope not.

I was thinking they would be magnesium... due to the price of the bike. Maybe not, but I already ordered my magnesium inspection covers
I'm not sure why, but I am a total sucker for motors slathered in magnesium! The 749/999 R motors are gorgeous as well as the 1098 motor.
The 1098 motor uses real magnesium covers... In fact I don't think Ducati has ever had any imitation magnesium on the motors. Hopefully the HM will be real as well.

No offense taken. I'll yank mine, too. They'll look good laying around the garage, too.
