Maybe some bad news about the HM
Hey everyone. I just found this forum through after some of the guys at Sport Touring.net ( www.sport-touring.net) talked about your place. Looks like a great site.
Anyways, I've been drooling over the Hypermotard since the showbike came out. A couple of weeks ago I called Ducati of Miami to check up on when they would have the HM in. They told me they had been informed that week that the Hypermotard has been scratched as a 2007 model. The demand for the 1098 and existing air cooled models sucked up all of Ducati's production capacity, to bring out the HM would require turning away 1098 customers or slashing production on the existing models. So the HM will be a 2008 model.
Ducati Miami said they haven't been given a date for when the HM will arrive, their guess was between late this summer and about this time next year. I wrote Ducati USA about this on March 15, here is my e-mail and their reply:

Hey guys - I visited Ducati of Miami yesterday and they told me that production of the Hypermotard has been shelved until the 2008 model year. Is this true?

They Hypermotard is still in pre-production. A release date for the Hypermotard has not been announced yet, but they will be model year 2008. Please keep an eye on our website at http://www.ducatiusa.com/ and click on “Hypermotard Update.” That will be the first location where news regarding the Hypermotard will be posted.
Kindest regards,
Cintia

My dealer says they're still expecting the bikes by June.
Whether they call it an '07 or an '08 makes zero difference to me...

I'm with you, Scott. Not all is lost (yet): - Chrysler introduced the PT Cruiser in April 2000 as an early 2001 model (we got ours in May).
- You can buy next model years Harleys late July

Long time lurker, first post. As a Hypermotard S "depositer", I felt it should be noted that the Hypermotard and Desmosedici have never been shown to be an 07 model, IIRC.
Ducati does not list them as 07s, but as 08s.
I would think that Ducati Miami would know this .

I bought an '07 Honda Fit in April of '06. Seems to me I remember Mazda introduced the B2000 pickup almost 11 months before it's labeled year date too.
