Questions for long time Ducati owners???
Hey Ducati Owners... I am taking a leap of faith here. I Just put my $$ down on the new HM. First in line for the "S" model. I have done research and also tried to look at comparable Supermoto models. Nothing seems to compare. I was told by a KTM dealer that Ducati's are wrought with problems and costly to maintain. I have no problem buying a bike that has typical maintenence issues, but you guys, who have owned them, tell me one thing... Is this a bike that will give me problems in the future? I know it is the newest, latest greatest. In the past, have there been problems with Ducati's new releases?
Thanks Ducnewby

LOL - what BS. My Ducati dealer also sells KTM and Triumph. You always see at least one KTM undergoing major teardown for repairs in that shop
Just look around here:

I think he just wanted your $$$

So I take it you are a faithful Ducati owner and would tell me to follow through with the purchase?

I have spoken to numerous dealers in California, Oregon and Nevada. I have made the decision to get one, and it matters not how far they are away from this thriving metropolis. I have found that any dealers in California have waiting lists 50 deep. So I was fortunate to get on the list at #1.

You will be very happy with your purchase.
The new HM looks absolutely gorgeous and devilishly fun at the same time. I would have no worries about maintenance or reliability on this model. The 2v engine is built like a tank and now the maintenance costs are very affordable.

Dude,
If there's anyone here who wouldn't own a Ducati again, it would be me. My travails with a 748 are....well-known.
That said, it's a beautiful bike. It has an air-cooled motor that the post-1994 water-cooled bikes can only hope for. The air-cooled motors just flat work. occasionally, you have an issue....mostly, they are as reliable as anvils.
Less complex than a water-cooled bike with all that ugly plumbing and radiator to detract fromt he great looks.....and two big-ass jugs with huge torque - hell of a lot better to ride, long-term, than a one-lung ex-dirt bike.

I am not a Ducati faithful but i do own one a 2004 Multistrada 1000DS and man i love it the torque is awsome the fun factor is second to none for sure, and as a ex jap bike owner i can tell ya that the service and reliability of these bikes is very good...how many 40yr old kawi's do you still see being ridden? not many but i can tell ya that there are lots of Ducati's still on the road...you made the right choice when you chose Ducati

I wanted to thank everyone for your input. It is a scary moment when the wife says, "Go ahead, buy it!" Parting with that kind of cash puts chills down my spine. But it is a bike or brand I have always wanted to buy. Take care and I will keep everyone posted on the arrival.
