Is tinting your headlight in bad taste?
Im talking because I recently saw a black hyper with yellow tint and honestly it looks awesome. It could have been sprayed but I figured in case it didnt come out as anticipated, tint would be a better solution. Or 9008 yellow HID...

Anyway, has anyone else tried this? Is anyone else a fan...? Thoughts? Thanks.

If its your bike, do whatever the hell you want. Its yours.
My high beam was 3500K. Really helped at night.
Cee-Baileys sells tinted covers. They're a great alternative to paint on tint, and protect well. You could always get translucent vinyl. Which might be what your link shows but I didn't open it.

I agree it's yours, so do what you want, part of the fun of owning a Duc is "modding" it to your liking. That said I have never liked the look or functionality of dark or smoked tint over any lights, headlight or otherwise, but yellow might look good and not hurt night riding to much.

Do what you want, however "ignorance is no excuse in the eyes of the law".Here in Oz you would probably get a defect because there are laws on the colour of the light that is allowed to be emitted from head lights.Mr police officer would be quoting the forgoing statement as you received your traffic infringement.
Then again they fine all the yuppies for driving cars around at night with their fog lights on and no fog.

As said.. Your taste is your own, but I´m shy away from it. The HYMs small reflector probably has a rather bad throw as it is.. Tinting it will make it even worse.
If you decide to do it, then a translucent vinyl should be good.. Easy to strip off if the cops decide they dont like it.
If you want another colour, then yellow or goldish colored lights are availble. I had a gold lowbeam on my old 748 and it seemed to get me noticed pretty good. On the Multi I´ve put in Osram Nightbreaker PLUS bulbs. Almost xenon white which works VERY well! Cars scuttle out of the way when coming up behind them on the freeway in the left lane

You did ask so here's my take....
If you don't want to be seen and you want to compromise your own vision at night then tint or paint it. But for me I would rather increase my light output on the road than reduce it. But if it's only used in the daytime....
As for me, just because it's yours doesn't mean you can do whatever you like with it. There's such thing as being responsible to others that may be affected by your modification. For example what if you were not seen coming coz your headlight is now dark?

What he just said +100 ^^^^
I'd never compromise light output for style but I'm a proud safety junkie.

The bike is mostly rode during the day but that doesnt mean I wouldnt use it during night times if I had too. Plus down here in Florida I dont think Mr. Oink Oink gives two hoots. Now snagging their freshly bakes donuts... thats a whole other story.
I guess I was just inquiring from other ducatistas because since im new to Ducati, I wouldnt want to upset the italians by installed a huge spoiler or 20" chrome wheels... lol.
Anyway, Im going to do more research and see if I can just go with a brighter HID. Yellow is favored but White would also get me noticed way better at night and day.
Thanks

Good choice. I highly recommend DDM Tuning HID bulbs and motorcycle ballasts. I ran a pair of 6000k bulbs (very white) in my Buell for several thousand miles with zero problems. It's on my list of needed upgrades for the Hyper as the stock headlight blows for output and distance.
