Engine warning light switching on and off

Hi, first 'real' post and it's about a problem - wouldn't you know it

Anyhoo, my engine light keeps coming on for a while generally a couple of minutes or flicks on and off. At the same time the RPM and speed readouts disappear. There is no loss of power, lights or indicators etc - the only other thing is that whilst the displays are going off and on, the trip meter and odometer don't clock up.

No error code comes up and I can't find one by using the 'Mode' switch. Other than the lightbcomingnon and losing then readouts, There doesn't seem to be ill effects. Weird.

The bike is out in all weather but has a fresh water wash down after each trip. I'm mega carefully where I put the water and I've done this routine for 20k plus but this has just started happening. It's due in for it's 22.5k service next month so will get Ducati Glasgow to have a look.

Until then though, any ideas?

Thanks in anticipation

Don't want to scare you but...
I had a similar issue with the oil light on the dash. It kept going on and off, also the oil temps went from 40 degrees celcius to 160 degrees celcius and back in a matter of seconds. After a really long search at the Ducati dealer (sensors, dash, connectors, ECU etc) they ended up replacing the complete wiring harnas. Did solve the issue, but they never found out where it was damaged.

But since you ride in all weather and hose it down often, I would check the connections from and to the wiring harnas, dash and ECU. Might just be water in there somewhere.

Thanks for that, I think

I'm hoping that it's something simple. I've had loads of trouble with the immobiliser not letting me start the bike in the wet - it normally lasts a day or two and I have to use the override. A bit of a pain but it works ok.

There's no way I want to pay out for a loom replacement

I'm not sure where all the connections are but I'm gonna strip the bodywork off over the weekend and check all is dry and then grease it up. Fingers crossed
