2009 or 2011 Hyper?
Hello,
I've been looking for a new(er) Hyper for over a year, with varying degrees of seriousness. I have located two new Hyper's for sale, both are within 300 miles of home, at separate dealers.
The first bike is a 2009, brand new in white, listed for $9,900
Second bike is a 2011, brand new in black, listed for $10,850
Neither bike is the 'S' or 'SP' model. I have not yet seen either bike in person, still in the research phase.
I prefer the white color over black, but is the 2011 model worth the almost $1000 price difference. From what I have read, the 2011 lost some weight, gained 5hp and some torque.
Has anyone driven both bikes that can offer an opinion? Just looking to see if the newer bike is worth the additional cost.
Thanks in advance.

$9900 sounds too high for a 3 year old model even if it's brand new. If it were me I would make a lower offer on the 2011 as everyone wants the "S" models which are close to $15000 . Maybe offer 10,500 out the door ( including taxes and tags). I always wheel and deal everything . I paid $9400 for my 2012 796 when they wanted $10,600

Both prices are only list prices, I have done no negotiating to date. My question was, is the 2011 model worth any more than the 2009? Assuming I can negotiate a similar discount on both models, there will still be a ~$1000 difference between the bikes, is the 2011 worth the additional money, considering I prefer the 2009 appearance (color).

I would first get book values on each . If I were to guess and I could be wrong I would say the 2011 is more than $1000 than the 2009 . If that's the case I would go with the newer bike for resale purposes . But I understand the color issue as I refused anything but Ducati red .

0ffer $10,500 for the 2011 with them swapping out black side panels and tail piece for white ones. Couldn't hurt !!

Or you can get the Black one and I will trade you my white plastics off my 796 for the black ones since I prefer black, and have been trying to find some reasonably priced for a good while. My plastics are in perfect shape fwiw

As far as the $$ goes, I think the 2009 is still too high. The 2011 seems like a much better deal to me. For reference I purchased a 2007 Yamaha YZ450f for $4500 in 2009 when the new 2009 was $7600. I would expect for the 2009 to be atleast $2000 less to make it worth-while. Resale value, if you HAD to get rid of it for some reason, is going to be a TON less on the 2009 regardless of how few miles you may have on it. The 2011 really is the better deal imho
