1100s suspension setup, track/street
suspension is amazing on the track, bike handles incredible well. the S version really dials it in on the track.
however, on the street its quite a rough ride. anyone have any ideas on settings that would make bike handle the bumps, cracks, etc of typical street riding?
thanks

Wow your the only person I know who likes the hyper suspension. I here ya on rough patches of road it can get kinda squirley I'm small though 5'8" 145lbs. I find the stock setting good as it gets for street use at my weight. A lot of the fatso's and extreme riders changed the fork cartridges and swear by it.

I hate the suspension on the street and track. I'm getting my forks serviced again to 120mm airgap with 7.5w per Alex's suggestion and see if that helps before I go with a drop in cartridge kit. I'm 180lbs. Set up pre load to 45-50mm in the front and 30mm in the back and see how it works.

Some people changed the oil levels and said it helped. If you do a search you will find a bunch of old threads on fixes for it. Seems the best fix is a cartridge kit there are a bunch to choose from. I just clench my schfincter every time I feel like the bike wobble it saves me a lot of money.

I don't know what Ducati used on the earlier Hypers, but the Marzocchi front/Ohlins rear suspension on my 2012 SP is excellent... The steering damper cured the "dancing bars" syndrome.

Steering Dampers are a band-aid for suspension issues.

Pretty much all my riding has been with clip-ons & it's been well over 5 years since my DR400 was stolen The 796 is the first wide bar bike I've ridden since then. The wide bars give a lot of leverage so the bike is quite sensitive to small bar movements. I found myself turning in way too early on my first ride. Not a problem I ever have with classic bikes! The extra leverage probably contributes (along with other factors) to tank slapping tendencies More so with more power of the 1100.
For the Isle of Man road races, bikes are usually softened off compared to short circuit set up due greater range of surfaces. i.e. it's a public road with some jumps thrown in.

Agree with Dave. Steering Dampers are there when you are pushing the bike to its limits, they shouldn't cure problems that arise from normal street riding.
