have you checked the battery voltage with a volt ohm meter? Sounds like a dead battery to me. Any number of things on the bike could have gotten stuck in the on position last time you used your bike resulting in a dead/low voltage battery. Remember your instrument cluster uses very little power to illuminate where as your starter requires a ton of current to turn the starter motor.

i just put in a brand new ballistic eve 2 battery yesterday
bike was taking forever to turn over yesterday and finally did
rode it around town maybe 4 miles. took it home and moved ground wire to right side of engine. started bike and was fine, but bike was warm
waited until this am, now i hit start and zero. just a loud click sound.
thoughts?
no, i don't have a tester here for battery but if display works properly is says 12.5 volts. all lights etc seem strong.

Check and make sure that your terminals are tight

Do you have a Scotts steering dampner? If so, it could be the security ring (slightly raise it) or double check your ground. Aloha Alex

Headlamps good etc - my experience with cars would make me think this could be a starter motor solenoid fault. Otherwise good chance of earth/ground fault. Other one is if bike relies on ground connexions to frame or engine then be sure that any paint is not stopping metal to metal contact. Common problem with Brit bikes & you have just swapped ground wire to new point. Good luck

Check that the solenoid is working. Use a dvom between the non battery side and the battery ground. You should see battery voltage when energizing the starter from the thumb switch.

Would try to start it with the side stand up-- next time it happens. I had a side stand issue that would prevent starting unless it was up.
