Charcoal canister
What's the actual purpose of this thing? I know it has to with emissions but that's all I know. I took it off ,plugged the hose going to the "tee" fitting that routes to each intake duct . Then just ran the fuel tank vent down to bottom near oil cooler lines

It filters fuel vapors thru the charcoal canister taking away any gas smell and re introduces them into the intake tract. With mine removed after a ride my garage smells like Sunoco premium , wife hates it . I like it , you can make a nicer job of it by removing the lines to the intakes and putting the "right sized"(not too long)metric screws in there instead of the hose fittings. I also inserted a plastic end in the main vent (largest line) just to decrease the size but still let it breath, with that the fumes don't seem to roll out as bad.

I did the remove EVERYTHING and plug/cap the intakes but during my last service the Mechanic recommended connecting a single vac line from one intake to the other. Said it would help balance the intakes. I know this works on transverse 4 cyl bikes (1-4 , 2-3).
Makes sense.

I plugged the one line that goes into the "T" fitting that goes to each intake . Wouldn't that be the same thing ?

I haven't notice any fuel smell after rides yet. Sounds like an overfill tank problem . Splashing down the overflow tube
