i feel your pain, i ordered a steering damper for my monster years ago, i liked the one in the printed catalogue, but when i went in to order they said it was no longer available, so i spent the next 2 weeks waiting for it to arrive and talking myself into the replacement, which was completely different, different brand, mounting the whole thing, i think i went above the top triple and the other below, then when i went in to pick it up it was the original one i had wanted 
they change suppliers all the time for one reason or another.
i like the one they supplied you better than the one you ordered too, and the original one you wanted would not be visible from more than a few feet away anyway.

The one in the catalog looks like a Photoshop. There's no way that the CF embossed like that. Look close, its BS. Call the marketing department, not your dealer.

Actually it can be done. IMHO it's a real item and not photoshop'd although many are guilty of posting photoshop'd prototypes as actual.
