Cheap GPS mount
I bought this a few months back, thinking it would come in pretty handy on my HM when in Germany. It cost 14 euro's from eBay, so I thought why not.
eBay - The UK's Online Marketplace
When I received it though, I noticed that the mounting of the case on the ram mount wasn't so secure. It didn't have a failsafe and could slide right off.
I had a few thumbscrews laying around and decided to use those. First hole I drilled in the middle of the mount, not enough "flesh", so I decided to use 2 on the side. Pretty sturdy now. And also, you can use your phone as an action cam. I only have a crappy 3GS so my quality won't be that good, but iPhone 4, 4S and other phone users could maybe use this instead of having to buy an expensive action cam. Also, you don't have to take your phone out of the case to operate it, you do have to take off your gloves though. As soon as the weather clears up here I'm going to take it for a ride, see how it holds up.
Anyway, the pics

It looks good.
For the record though, I find that the Hyper is WAAAAY too much fun to "get lost" on to ever worry about mounting a GPS. But that's me.....

I know it is. But imagine this. Lost in German forest roads( I'm Dutch so I have to figure out German as wel) , fuel tank is signaling empty and you have no idea where you are. The last gas station is too far back, you wont make it. This is what happend to me last year and I was lucky to limp it to a gas station, that's when a GPS comes in handy. And you can also turn it around and make use of your phones cam
I've tested the waterproofness of the housing. Well, it's not as waterproof as advertised. Under the shower it doesn't take long before water starts coming through the zipper. In real life that would mean a hell of a rainshower.
99 times out of a 100 I don't need a GPS, but for the long trips it could come in handy. Usually when I take 500km+ trips I just write down all my exits on a piece of paper and memorize them. That works for the highway, but is impossible to do when going down twisties

Have you checked out RAM mounts? I have had success with their mounts on all my bikes so far, even offroad. They are tough, and have lots of options available. Good for you for exploring with the Hyper. Its got the makings of a great adventure bike...as long as you strap a gas tank on your back

I've looked at RAM mounts but they were too expensive for me. I don't ride with the satnav a lot, maybe once or twice a year so this seemed perfect for that. It only costs 16 bucks.
