Different CF side fairings?

A few months ago someone crashed in my left rear flank. Insurance decided to not pay me, but the person who crashed into me, but that's one for the courts.

I bought a replacement rear side fairing, and apparently it doesn't fit, physically. The mounting holes don't match up, unless you put an enormous amount of force on it, and then it isn't symmetrical with the right fairing.

I've compared them and it seems this is a lighter shade of black. Stock ones are brownish/dark black, and this is more of a grey black, and the CF pattern is also different. This one also weighs less.

The weird thing is however, on the inside it says: Ducati fianchetto SX HYM. Which does mean that it is an original Ducati part. This is really weird. Anyone know which cover I do need?

My oem s tail panel has a white tag with red wrighting that says ducati motor holdings with a part number starting with 4. It also has the silver heat shield stuck to the inside and a production date code.

weird, because when I searched for Ducati fianchetto SX HYM I got the original part on google..

This one also has silver heat shield and a worn off QC sticker. The seller that sold me this had it on his bike before, and his is a 2009. Weird :?

I note your Netherlands address - did Ducati make slightly different bodywork for different countries or was it supposedly all the same fitment??

Not sure. My bike is imported from the UK, so maybe?

I have noted that the factory CF differs from bike to bike. My panels are hand rubbed Matt finish, while a friend has lacquered gloss panels on his. Also different CF Matt was used in the lay up, some are manufactured with straight mat others (like mine) are twill pattern. It appears Ducati may either use multiple suppliers for their CF components. Also if your having difficulty with fit, have you checked to see if your rear sub frame was damaged in the accident? Perhaps this could be the reason the panel is not lining up with the mounting holes?

Nick.

The mounting holes and brackets are a bit different on this one. The weird thing is, my old fairing fits perfectly without putting much stress on it, ok, it is chipped but it's not bent or distorted heavily. My subframe seemed a bit crooked, but it turned out to be the exhaust mounting that was slightly bent.

Anyhow, this fairing, even if it would fit wouldn't be usable, since it looks very different from my right carbon fibre fairing.

Anyone have this carbon weave? this is the fairing in question:

My original carbon weave, it's much finer and a different shade of black:

What year bike and are you running a term exhaust system? The stock cf panels won't fit the termi system and visa versa. Do you have an S or a Evo SP?

I have a 2007 1100S with the termi 2-2 slip-ons. Are there different fairings for the 2-2 slip-ons?

I looked on the Ducati parts fiche for the Termi C/F slip-ons and they don't appear to come with different C/F trim panels. My 2 into 1 system came with different panels. I have the original panels off my bike if you'd like to try?
