kick stand issues
ok, so i try to start the bike, turn the key on- all lights go on, then off, the only thing left on is the red oil light. Wont turn over. So i put the kickstand up, the red oil light is the only on, and try to turn it over- it works turns on. I notice then when I'm in neutral, no neutral light is on. So then -while in neutral i put the kick stand back down. The engine shuts off. Its almost like it thinks you are in gear and turns off the bike.. anyone have any ideas before i have to haul the bike in for assistance.

The neutral indicator wire leaves the motor case at the rear near the swing arm pivot. It is a single wire that runs up into the harness on the clutch side. I would check this wire first. If the bike is under warranty I would take it in. If it is not under warranty and the wire is ok then the problem might be internal in which case I would maybe try to live without the neutral indicator.

if your bike is new just take it to the dealer to change your kickstand switch. I had to replace mine and it was brand new cuz sometimes it wouldn't kill the motor when I started off with it down and sometime it i had to put it up before I started the bike so I would be able to shift it into first.

Based on your original post with the red oil light and that it was fine after the warm up, I'm wondering if maybe you don't have enough oil.
Can you level the bike then check the oil window and see if it's between the Max and Min indicators?

oil level is good. I';m really perplexed by this.. So what i did was tighten the side stand bolt, and disconnect the side stand sensor, that is up just below the head light and fender. Just unplugged it- then blew inside the sensor, then plugged it all back in. Started up and it seem to work.. Im gonna use the bike tomorrow, then prob not for a couple of days. I;ll check it again... Thanks for all the responses.

Anyone have ideas? I checked today- same thing. You turn the key, all the normal lights do there thing, then when done "booting up" the only light on is the oil light., The neutral light is off. The bike is in neutral, if i try to start, the side stand is down, it won't start.. I kick the stand up, get on the bike, it will start...
ride around for about 10mins, till warm, the neutral light starts showing up when i put it in neutral... WTF?

The neutral switch in the engine sounds like its sticking or something. Take it out and clean it.

That's an easy neutral problem. I've had a switch go bad on me before on my Desmoquattro. If it's under warranty the dealer should be able to find and fix that problem very easily. The switch provides a ground to the neutral light as well as go through the closed contacts on the side stand switch when it's down enabling you to start the bike.
If your dealer is a billion miles away or your not under warranty, all you need to do is put the bike in neutral, disconnect the switch and shoot from the switch side to ground with a meter to see if you have continuity. To verify the light works, ground out the connector on the frame and the light should pop on.....do all this when the bike is cold and in the failed state. Like stated before, clean up the switch might do the trick.
I need to replace the switch on my 748 and it's sort of a bitch to do...on that model anyway. The Hyper looks easier. Good luck.

is that the plug that runs right up on the side,, its clipped to the frame.. right up from the kick stand.
