Finally some relief

I have been fighting some numbness in both my hands for a while and sometimes only after 15 or 20 min ride. I started to figure out the cause when i was on a long ride with a group and the numbness got pretty bad. Once I pulled my elbows close to my side I started to feel some relief. I noticed once I stopped that my hands were being pressured only on my palm under my pinkie finger. I felt that the stock sweep was a little too much for my riding style. I found these carbon looking bars BellissiMoto – Driven Aluminum and Carbon Handlebars that had less sweep in the super cross bend than the stock bars. I took a chance and it has really paid off. With the combo of some gel grips and the new bars I had a hour long ride yesterday with not a hint of numbness.

I too have had a problem with numbness in my throttle hand. I know I'm not holding on too tight and the bars seem ok. I think I've it narrowed down to too tight gloves. I have a huge hand and I'm findgin it hard to find a pair of gloves that fits properly. Good luck and I will definitely pay closer attention to my bars. Who knows.

Stock grips also amplify this problem. They have to be the worst grips I've had on a motorcycle by far.

I had the same problem. Went for gel grips as a first step to try and cure the vibes. When I took off the stock grips I was suprised just how thin they were - like paper. I opted for slightly oversize gel grips and these are way, way better. I also found that ensuring the injection system was properly set up (TPS correctly set etc) made a big difference. All good now.

I had the same numbness problem when I had my Gsxr. It's all about palm pressure, weight repartition, posture, vibrations...etc. Specially on long steady speed rides, basically when you have 10mi in between slight curves..
