They're extremely over priced, will allow your engine to run slightly cooler and a whole lot noisier!

They look cool though, I love watching my clutch at work. It also keeps the whole thing cooler and less clutch dust can accumulate. Built up clutch dust can usually be identified by a "chewbacca" noise when pulling away at the lights.

Downsides?
Makes more noise, you have to cover it when washing the bike and with the hyper at least( not a real problem with the superbikes), I wouldn't wear shoes with long laces, but that's not a real problem for me since I always suit up.

By the way, try to steer clear from red pressure plates. I have one in mine and the red has turned into a more "pink" shade after a while.

The first time I washed it I didn't cover up the clutch. My clutch ended up sticking pretty bad. When I put it in gear the bike would just surge and stall, took a few attempts to get her riding again and after a few miles the problems were gone.

Riding in the rain isn't that much of a problem though, just washing

I don't cover mine up BUT I do run the bike and cycle the clutch several times (in neutral) so that it flings any water out of it before I put it away.

I have the Ducati Performance one for three years now and it is still red

Don't forget to buy stainless steel springs and caps. Stock ones will rust when exposed to water and air. Another advantage with an open clutch is that you can blow out the dust with a compressor. (don't forget to cover your mouth and nose when you do. Dust that comes out is not good for you. )

I love that rattle. I sometime wish my 848 have a dry clutch...
