Dashboard Blinking Red Light
I just picked up a 2008 Hypermotard 1100S and the dashboard has a red light flashing in the center top when I turn it off, thought it might go out after an hour or so but it's still flashing. Is this normal?
Thanks

Don't touch your Duc, you've activated its self destruct mode, it's some sort of anti-theft countermeasure Ducati has implemented.

The self destruct mode is activated as soon as the original owner signs the sales contract. The bllinking light simply tells you it's still counting down.
Seriously the OBD light is supposed to go out after a specified time. It's in the owners manual if you look. Off hand I've forgotten how long it takes. I'm sure if you parked your bike over night it would not be blinking in the morning.

You need to buy an expensive upgrade for it. That's how you shut that blinking light. When it wants more then it blinks some more.

I do know you will need to buy a battery minder before that evil red light sucks the life out of your battery

You guys sure it doesn't go out by itself? Seems like mine does but I guess I could just be numb to it all.

Yes it does go off by itself and the light has no significant effect on the battery.
Its the immobilizer part that sucks battery 24/7.Kind of like when you turn off your TV it still uses power to look for a remote signal to turn it back on.
A coil located around the ignition switch creates a small magnetic field that will stimulate the proper key. This feedback then allows the bike to be stared.

Nope, not neccessary. My battery was hooked up to the bike when it sat idle for 1 month, battery was still full.
