I use these T-Rex Ducati 748 916 996 998 848 Monster S2R S4R 796 1100 S Rear Axle Sliders | eBay

You will have to remove them prior to removing the rear wheel, so they are only good for cleaning the chain, putting on tire warmers, and other maitenance jobs. I use one of T-rex' single sided stands to remove the rear wheel.

Their customer service is the best! They made the slider/spools for my bike after I contacted them. The photo I sent to them is included in their instructions. They also sent me a new stand after the version 1 stand bent. The new version would survive a nuclear war!

R&G has some pretty good looking axle sliders. I just decided to buy a FG Gubellini stand 2nd hand, was about the same price and you can remove the wheel as well.
