bike won't start

Hi,
The bike won't fire up, ignition is ok, then when i press the starter button there is a small "tic".... and the front light goes out..
This happened, I am not sure it is related, after I took my clutch cover out to check for oil leackage, tried to fire it up while clutch cover was open and it didn't, so I thought it might be a security/switch or soemething, put the clutch back together with 4 springs instead of 6, closed it and still the same.... Charged the battery... same... got a battery jumper.. nothing.. so it is not the battery... not the fuses that I checked......
Help...

thx

Jihad,

Have you checked to see if the immobilizer ring was disturbed? Mine is in the cover over the key on my Scotts mount and sometimes it moves around enough to create a "no start" situation.

Additionally, the other day, it did the same thing and I tried cycling the kill switch, the key, taking the key out and making sure the little metal "tang" is facing forward (seems to work best, most consistantly that way) and the clutch and sidestand as well.

These are all the things that can/will effect your ability to start the bike.

Good luck,
Dave

bike in gear?, neutral safety switch?, kick stand switch?

I would check any area you recently worked on. I recall someone had accidentally unplugged the antenna for the immobilizer. Things happen.

good luck!

In the event where a speedy egress is necessary, that immobilizer is bound to cause compromise... There have been numerous occasions where I have went to start: Nothing. Then had to wiggle the ringding before it would start...

Anybody figure out how to trickfack the immobilizer...? As in, do away with it altogether? I don't want to be the Guinea Pig, but I sure am interested to know if anyone has gone there.

I second that.

I have had starting issues before, but my fuel pump will not kick on when I turn the key, touch the top of the fuse box, voila. All the wires seem good, I can't consistently replicate it. Maybe I'll tweak all my fuses a lil bit n see if that stops it.

If the Immobilizer is tied to the dash, and not tied to the ecu, can a guy without a dash just remove the Immobilizer? I also don't want to be a Guinea pig, but I know my hyper works with no dash.
