clutch questions
Ok before I go one, I will accept some bashing but try to keep it civilised guys...
I have some fluid coming from my clutch cover after I washed the bike, first time after the crash, so I open the clutch cover and I see there is some oil inside, i thought it might be an o-ring or seal ring or something, as I can't leave it alone, ( I don't have a clutch tool ) I try to take of the clutch and end up breaking something..( clutch drum )... Now that I have to order some parts, i will order the clutch tool. the question is can the clutch still work as it is?
and not knowing what the oil leak was from, can any one advise what to order?
I'd rather order more parts hen I need than end up waiting and paying for shpping wice.
thx

The leakage can come from the "O" ring seals on the clutch shaft, or the engine case clutch seal behind the clutch basket, worse case is a small crack in the case.
Your clutch hub is saveable, order HD aftrermarket springs & run "4" springs, many people do this for a lighter "pull" with no ill effects.
Leave out the other spring across from the broken one. Aloha Alex

"Heavy Duty" most aftermarket springs are stiffer than the stock ones.
I have tried a bunch of them, so far I like the TPOs springs the best. Aloha Alex

Alex,
So, are you saying that you only put 4 springs and leave the other two out ? My cluth is hard as hell ..... Doesn't help with the shorty lever either .
Also. My clutch doesn't hook up untill my clutch lever almost completely out ..... Any way to fix that ?
Thanks

I personally run the 6 springs, but do know other Hyper/Sport classic riders that run only 4 springs for a easier "pull" In fact there are some slipper clutches that are designed to only run 4 springs. Many seem to like it. My Hyper makes more power than most & I do track days, so I didn't want to take a chance so I kept with the 6 spring set-up.
To make the clutch "hook up" correctly, make sure the system is well bled & the clutch pack "stack height" is within spec. Aloha Alex
