PCv and QuickShift

I just wanted to let everyone know about my experience with the Power Commander PCv and Quick Shifter on my 2008 Hyper. I know that the hot topic lately has been the 2010 and up Evos and such due to their closed loop and Siemens Electronics, but those of you with the 2008-2009s really need to check into this.

I had the 2-1 ECU paired with the Termi Slip-on, DP airbox and lightweight flywheel and all was well. The bike ran good and after changing the fueling at idle, it started good too. I ran it this way for quite some time.

Flash forward to a month ago and Dusty from Dynojet Research and I are in contact (childhood friends) and he tells me that he needs my bike to finalize some R&D on my vintage Hyper. So I dragged the Fam to Vegas with the bike in the truck.

They used my bike for the few days that I was there and then installed the Power Commander V and Quick Shift onto it and did a custom map for me. I didn't get a chance to ride it until well after I got home as the weather sucked and I was stupid busy, but let me tell you......

I've had this bike since October 2009 and it's my first twin (owned, not ridden). This bike has never run SO SMOOTH in all of the time that I have owned it and I have never ridden any Ducati of similar engine design that ran this smooth. Even lugging it down low, it doesn't feel like a twin, much smoother.

Now the shifter. I have the Woodcraft rearsets and they set it up on standard shift. I have to say that I did have a bit to get used to as it felt "different", not bad, just different when I shifted. I was a bit scared to hold the throttle WFO and just shift without the clutch at first but damn, when I did!!! It was super smooth, like Butta'. It was smoother than I could ever do with the clutch and after just holding the throttle open at whatever level and just shifting with the Quick Shifter, it feels more natural and even BETTER for the transmission than I could do with the clutch.

I know Alex has one of these shifters and admittedly, I didn't see the need for it on a non-racebike, but I have to say, now that I have one, I don't want to go without it. It's nice to use even when you're not "pinning it" and just riding around.

Both the PCv and the QS are well worth the money. My bike has never run or shifted so smooth.

Clutch? Who uses the clutch to shift? I only use it getting in & out of first gear! You're right though, the Trans on these things rival anything Japanese!

Ditto on the PC-V! Just got my map done and though I only picked up 2 more HP & 3 Ft Lbs, the thing "feels" like a whole new bike because of the smoothness & lack of herky jerky on the throttle!

Well, to put that into perspective, I just bought my first LCD Flat Screen TV a month ago.

They're so much lighter than the tube TVs.........

My wife has been trying to get me to do that for years, I didn't listen to her either, and she gives me sex (occasionally). Why did you think I would necessarily listen to you the first 50 times?

Very cool seems like a great mod.I would like to get that set up eventually. First I need some rearsets and a slipper clutch. I'm looking at getting the Woodcrafts as well.

The woodcrafts are nice. I originally thought that the position would be too high but after riding with them for even a short time, I became very acustom to them. I really like the position now.

Plus, the fact that they are so rebuildable is a nice feature too.

The Quick Shifter fit nicely in the linkage, it looks very clean.

I know, I know, pictures or it didn't happen. I'm on it, just been busy that's all.

Sure, but only because I feel SO bad for you. You know, riding ACH, making sure your guys are getting your contracts done, riding ACH, making sure your fleet of trucks get serviced, riding ACH, fitting new parts on your soon to be dead Hyper MOD II, riding ACH, feverishly planning the MOD III, oh, and that tedious task of meeting up with Tim and riding around the Malibu Mtns. All that and spending countless hours at ALL hours surfing the Hyper forum (compare post counts ).

I love ya' man, but I don't get to live that lavish California lifestyle that you take for granted. I'm slaving away, 10 hours a day working for your Uncle, and that's just my night job.....
