Anyone else get the expanding tank class action letter?
Looks like Ducati, while of course not admitting fault, is fixing tanks and extending warranties.

Yes, got mine today also. Are there any Lawyers on here that might provide us with some tips, or guidance?
All plastic tank Ducatis are affected. You can thwart some of the problems by using ethanol stabilizer. The alcohol in gas wreaks havoc on almost anything plastic, or rubber.

Got mine today, however I haven't heard much of a problem with the M796. Anyone know if there I one?

damages are difficult to assess on tard tanks due to the fact that you won't be able to see the cosmetic damage that are common in other models such as sport classics, since our bikes use the covers. i used to own a gt1000 and bubbles would develop on the surface, along with stretching that would cause the tanks to slide out of the mounting brackets. we will have to keep a closer eye on it to see any stretching, etc. of course there is always chance of developing leaks, but i really haven't heard that many issues with tard tanks. may be others will have more insight regarding issues they may have had.

It doesn't take very long for it to get harder and harder to get the fuel cap to screw on. Got my letter today too, and might get to try out the warranty in a not-too-distant future.

I owned a 2006 Multistrada 1000 and those fuel tanks were a nightmare. I believe that Acerbis made..or still makes all the Ducati fuel tanks..and they started making the tanks with different materials about 2008 or 2009. It was the ehenol {not alchohal} in the gasoline that made the tanks bubble and expand so badly that you couldn't remove the tank from the frame. They don't have ethenol in the gas in Europe...so it took years to figure out why it was happening only in the United States.
At this point i don't see or hear about any 2010 or later model Ducatis having this problem. I really don't think this affects our HM 796's at all.
And yes i got my letter today. I'm ignoring it.

Does this also affect my 1100S -08?
Is there any official text that I can refer to?
I Think I have to convince my local Ducati dealer of the problem to get my tank replaced.
