GPR vs SCOTTS
I have to make a decision on which stabilizer to use on my 796, the Scotts or the GPR. I have used a GPR on my CR250 & CRF450R for many years(generation 1 from 2003), but when I bought my service Honda CR500AF last year it had the mount for a Scotts already on it so I bought the Scotts stabilizer for that bike instead of changing the mount to use my GPR on it. I originally though that there was not that big of a difference between the Scotts and the GPR but after a season in the dirt I have grown to love the Scotts, a lot! Especially with the power that a 500 two stroke has in the woods. I have ridden dirt for 30+ years and only used dual sports on the road, so I am not sure what the better choice is for the street.
Anyway like I said all of this is on dirt and not the street, can anyone tell me which one is better for the Hyper 796? And why? I am leaning towards the Scotts but I have very little experience with a ‘true’ street bike set up and the Scotts has a lot more adjustments than the GPR and I don’t know if that would be a help or a hindrance to a street novice like me. Thanks for the help!

Never used the GPR only the Scott's, works a treat and got a great deal and support from Blair Layton SVRacingParts.com
Is very tunable so you can easily set it up to suit and the Scott's guys are happy to offer advice via email. All round really happy.

tomato tomatoe if you ask me. We have run the Scotts, GPR and even Arrow on our shop bikes. They have all been top quality and done exactly what was asked of them.
I run the Scotts on all my dirtbikes (one damper, but each bike has a mount) , mainly because I had a connection with a Scotts rep that rode the same bike as me, and was able to recommend many different setups for my specific riding conditions. In my opinion...its down to style and color, and interface. Let me know if you have any other specific questions, as we carry them all.

When you use the Scotts on the street do use the full amount of ‘sweep’ available or do you have it set to a lesser angle? That was one of the things I was wondering about because the GPR does not allow me to change the angle. It works all the way out and then no resistance back to dead center, where the Scotts allows me to change the angle out.

Scotts used my 796 for the test bike for their damper. Honestly, they have some of the best customer service that I have ever dealt with. Damper is top notch!

In regards to customer service, I have never needed a rebuild on any of my dampers. However, of the friends of mine that have...they all say that Scott's customer service was unrivaled.
