False neutral
So I was ridding yesterday and I kept shifting in to neutral, the problem is it was between 3rd and 4th gear. At first I thought it was a fluke but it happened like 8 times. The first 2 or 3 times were accidents but after that I was trying to do it . I discovered it only happens in low rpms ( under 4200). I have not gotten the the 600 mile services ( current mileage is 617) done because the light will not come on and I don't want to get it home after the service and have the light come on and have to take it back. Is this something that happens or should I bring it up to the mechanics while getting it serviced?

I get this sometimes too, but I think it is just lazy shifting on my part. It's a once in a blue moon kind of thing, never twice in a row. If there is a parts related issue I assume the shift pawl is slipping either due to wear or oil. I am running Motul 7100 full syn 20w-50 and I'm at 2000 miles on this oil.

I've got 800 on mine and found it do be doing the same earlier on. As the miles increased, it seem to lessen and I chalked it up to everything breaking in. I'd mention it, but I'd be curious to see if it improves w/ time.

If it only happens when upshifting, think about adjusting the shifter. The shifter height maybe up a little high so your not getting a full upshift.

Things shld get better after the 1000km service. The clutch plates are still breaking in. If after 2500km, the bike still has the issues, then you need to get it look at.

It does get better after break in, however you may want to adjust the shifter lever a bit.

False neutral
Greetings,
I had the same issues when new, hardly happens now, I have about 15K miles on an 08 Hyper S. The false neutral occured more often when I ran Amsoil, I spoke to the shop and the tech's said there is no reason that Motul would make a difference, but the tech said all of the owners that run Motul stated the shift issues were less pronounced with Motul. Again, no technical basis for the observations as Amsoil is a fine product, but Motul seems to reduce the frequency of false neutrals for me.
I still run Amsoil in all my dirt bikes though!
Best regards,
Joe

Right, the shift lever linkage should form a 90 with the rocker... If that doesn't fix, introduce Redline oil and get an open clutch cover... The only other way to fix if the aforementioned does not do so is to remove the Altside case and check out your prawl/gear selector/gearbox (Warranty fix).
And try not to stop for traffic... These clutches don't relish the heat.

Check the manual but I'm pretty sure the light will come on at like 660 miles or something. Just ride it a bit more and it will come on. The transmission has to break in too but if it's bugging you real bad tell your tech about it when you take it in.

Mine quit doing it once I adjusted the shift lever, found that information on this site.
