Hyper Touring?
I went out for a nice little 100ish mile ride today. Temp was a cool 52 degrees F. First thoughts.... LOVE the Fabbri windscreen and also that I need a new seat...! My other ride is a Yamaha FJR (decked out for cross country touring) and as I'm out on the Hyper today riding around southwest Ohio, I start thinking about how this could be an amazing lightweight touring machine! It would, by no means be a highway flyer... but is right in its element running around the backroads of America. Thoughts? Anyone load up the Hyper and take it on a multi-day trip? Cross country even?
The bags I have are both Rapid Transit. Platoon Tail Bag. Recon Tank Bag.
Josh

Done 3 days with Nelson Riggs bags and their laptop tail bag setup and Sargent seat. In fact that's the setup in my avatar. Nice setup. Just make sure you get the heat resistant backer pads, maybe run straps across the bags from the top hooks front and back, and watch contact on that right side pipe.

No silly, the old one. Personally, I couldn't ride the Hyper more than 100 miles without experiencing all kinds of butt and knee pain.
I bought the Hyper due to its upright dirt bike riding style with hopes of taking longer rides. But, I just couldn't endure the pain (one bumm knee) and that was one of the main factors for deciding to get rid of it. I just couldn't ride it to the Dragon as I intended. Now, the slightly larger KTM SMT does exactly what I wanted and I am happy. Little bags are just a bonus.

I made guards out of large paint stir sticks coated with liquid plastic.
Bolt them to holes on pass pegs, they extend up and back laying against rear covers. This keeps them totally free from touching anything. Tried it out at Daytona in March (several hundred miles total) and worked perfect

Excellent idea. Have any pics? There was a guy here who posted some great pics of a bracket he fabricated himself. Seems this is the perfect all-around bike, especially if you're into messing with it. I found it to be a great light touring bike and especially tons of fun if sticking to the back roads.
