Chain recommendations for Hyper
My chain needs replacing and was just wondering if anyone has any ideas on best type for the Hyper.
Mine does get ridden quite hard and the front wheel tends to be up in the air a fair amount (which is where it should be i feel on a Hyper!)
So with that in mind any recommendations for a good quality chain?

I've been using the DID ZVM-X 520 "X" ring chain, a really strong tough chain, with very little stretching in 10,000 mi. I believe it would really last a LONG LONG time, in the std 525 size. Pricy but worth it. Aloha Alex

DID, RK or similar all offer chains with different strength links.
Buy the one thatīs appropriate to your wallet.
I put on a DID VM2 as the stock chain of the 08 Hyper wasnīt available anymore. The more expensive and the higher the tensile strength of the chain links, the longer it might last. It strongly depends on the amount of care though.
I hear itīs not advisable to buy chains with chicks names: Iris, Regina...

Buy the best chain you can afford and replace the sprockets at the same time.
I like Regina regardless of name.

Was wondering this as well. I wanted to buy a VM2 at first, but I was told by several dealers that the hyper, because of its massive torque and big twin engine needs a heavier chain like the DID ZVM2 or the strongest AFAM 525 chain. Now I'm doubting which to get. The whole set with the strongest afam or did will set me back at least 270 euro's, with the VM2 it will only be 200 euro's(and 270 is with a lot of discount, without discount it would be 350 euro's).
Because with the hyper it's not only the chain that's expensive, but also the rear sprocket, which is weird.

I went with a DID 520 ZVM-X chain, because I do trackdays & wanted the strongest 520 chain I could find, & the DID 520 ZVM-X is the only 520 chain I know of that is rated for a full 1200cc motorcycle.
If one were to keep the std 525 size chain on their Hyper, then any quality chain mfgs high end O/X ring chain would work fine, so get the one that you can the best deal on. Aloha Alex

Cheapest place I could find online:
Motorraddiscount.com
Happy shopping.
Regarding the rear sprocket, see if you can find a SBK quick change sprocket carrier off a 916 bike. TSS is good because they have a wide range of sprockets. Their aluminium sprockets are only some 40 at Sebimoto Germany.

And how many miles do you get out of your chain? I tend to ride my bike hard, probably not as hard as you but above average on the roads, so I'm guessing mileage should be about the same?
Because I can find 520 sprockets for cheap ( older ducs have them if I understood the dealer correctly)

I'm not too fond on aluminium sprockets, they tend to wear a tad bit too fast for my liking. The rear sprocket here (525 steel) for a hyper is 96 euro's, front is 25, and the chain is 177

I change mine at about 10,000 mi, just to be on the safe side. I tend to run my stuff a little on the hard side. Aloha Alex

According to this chart, the 525 VM2 and the 520 VMZ-X have almost the same wear index and tensile strength, so a VM2 would work if I read correctly?
