GPR Stabilizer 796 Kit Install

After much research I found that GPR was the best deal for the 796.
Here's some pics and comments, the instructions provided were a bit cut and paste from the 1100 and different bikes, so this may help someone combined with the GPR instructions. I sent a pic to GPR and they said I did it right I haven't ridden with it yet, still reassembling after my crash, hopefully this weekend I can.

What you'll get in the kit. It is built for a fat bar, but has spacers for the stock bar. (sorry leaf not included)

Remove the stock bars clamps entirely

Install the part that goes behind the key using the stock bolts

Screw the stabilizer to the bottom part of the clamp by GPR, (use locktite).

With the bolts from GPR, add three washers (two from stock one from GPR) they will ALL go under the tree, the GPR washer should be on top, flat side down. Then line up the stabilizer and mount and wrench from the bottom (no locktite).

The tongue from the GPR should be about half way in the groove of the piece by the key, tighten that bolt now too.

Place the bar and top of the clamps, then on to replacing the rest of the stuff!

Also, the guy from GPR told me to ride it for a bit and do a final tighten.

Nice! Looks pretty straight forward enough. Did it raise the bar?

Were you able to choose the colour of the knob?

The knob? No, they didn't ask, just the color of the whole thing. Did you?

Its lower than what I had with the Zeta mounts, probably about the same as stock. Very minor difference, I think.

Im not completely sure how these stabilizers work but does it restrict maneuverability at low speeds?

It's a link between your steering front end and the frame.

A steering damper is no more than a valving system allowing more or less oil to travel, therefore making your direction stiffer but able to abosrb the huge energy involved during an unwanted handlebar movement.

Some more fancy products have more than one setting, giving you the option to keep a light maneuverability at low speed but a very sensitive damping response at high speed in the event of a tankslap.

Congrats on the damper ktrides2
But I still think you should look into why you went into a tankslap first.

Bike is back together, went for a ride and it feels great! It was an easy stroll around town just to make sure the bike and my mental facilities after the crash were all in order, and we are both in good shape. I like the GPR, it made the bike feel a lot less squirrely even at a low settings. I'll take it out again tomorrow and step up the pace.

I know why, because I hit the track and my front wheel got smacked to the left and came off the ground, then hit the ground and slammed to the right and so on and so on.
I just hit the rough RR track too fast, in a lean and at an angle, bad combo.
Plus, my suspension setup with it lowered in the back and slightly in the front, probably didn't help the situation.

I have a GPR on my bike. Depending on what type of driving you are doing, you set the wheel accordingly. If I am in and out of traffic I set the wheel on 1 or 2 for least resistance.

What do you have it set to outside of traffic? Backroads, curves?
