sprocket

Hi guys, i'm thinking about racing my sp in a 5 round race series next year in Australia. 2 out of the 5 race tracks are grand prix tracks with a more open flow with a long straight. I'm wondering if anyone here has gone with a larger front sprocket to increase top speed? What were the results?

Thanks

Stock gearing gives me a top speed of 235kph, but the bike does not have enough power to redline in 6th( does give the flashing red lights, but no limiter), I'm guessing that with a longer gearing the bike won't even have enough power to reach that speed.

If the bike is stock, add 2 teeth to the rear sprocket, that should help the bike hit redline in 6th, which will give it a faster top-end, and improve the pick-up through the gears.
Sometimes dropping the gearing will improve the top-end, or you could mod the motor to produce more power, so you can pull the stock gearing and go faster. Aloha Alex

What Drinky said. I have been running a 14/42 combo on the last race. The straight was quite short with only 900m and a 2nd gear low rpm corner entering the straight. The Hyper (08 base, no engine mods, DP ECU+SC exhaust) did only make it up to roughly 180kmh. Then my friend did a track day at Spa Franchorchamps and he was running the stock gearing 15/41. He couldnīt get past 210ish kmh on the looooong straight after Eau Rouge - and Spa really is fast.

I wouldnīt worry about the top speed so much. Until you hit the rev limiter in 6th, you might end up in Tasmania The Hyper sucks on super fast tracks. Concentrate on the twisty stuff and then make the most out of the straight line parts.

If you want to race, Iīd suggest you do something about your rearsets.
