[QUOTE=el tardo;1202334][B][I]more options for the hyper 796 forks.

so i sent them my forks and they took them apart as far as they could go without breaking them. what they found out is the left fork leg is peened together and cant be taken apart and also the bottom of that leg is permanently joined together with the fork tube. so basically the forks cant be rebuilt in any way. i wanted to know this even tho i read it already (cant always believe what you read on the INTERNET) so it gave me piece of mind on my options.

Thanx for your thread. Looking at the Duc. 796 parts list; no separate part is shown for damper rods. Are both of the "damper rods" permanently fixed in the fork bottoms? You imply that the right leg is more dismantleable than the left, I assume it's only that the spring & spacer/s can be removed? Parts list implies neither fork leg can be detached from the bottom axle / caliper mount either. At least, they're not shown as separate parts. Some tight interference fit there I guess. So not possible to remove & attach to some other adjustable forks. Even if the early multistrada forks fitted you'd have to have the front wheel / discs etc as well as the caliper mounts etc are different.

Just ordered my kit....can't wait to try it out once I get the springs in. I am going to attempt myself so I will try to do a write-up if time allows.

Had a little communication with Maxton here in the UK. They have no "kit" for the 796 although they have done work on the 1100. I sent them some info from the 796 parts list & owners manual & they say that the forks (which they haven't seen yet) seem to be similar to the Aprilia RS125 Marzocchi's. With those they take off one fork bottom/axle/caliper mount & weld in a platform (which the other fork already has) then fit their GP20 cartridge kit = typically £650 rebound only, £780 rebound & preload adjustment. This may change when they have the forks in their hands! Although they say in over 25 years business only 1 or 2 forks have not been fixable. They also do a GP30 cartridge but I have no info on them.
I have asked about a basic spring & spacer option & am waiting for reply but I think they will need to see forks eventually. I'm sticking with the std ones for a while yet.
Don't know about Hyperpro, 796 not listed in their options. (2011 catalogue)
I have some Maxton info on 1100 forks which maybe better in an 1100 thread.
