Angry Worse time to discover you bought the wrong part

I was very impressed by how easy it was to take the 15T front sprocket off my Hyper. It was time to put the new 14T one in when it hit me like a brick.
Oh that sinking feeling...
Doh! Looks like I bought the wrong DP 14T sprocket. No holes in this sprocket.

The one on the left is the stock 15T and the one on the right is the DP 14T.

Even though the Ducati web site says:
code 96824701B Front sprocket 7mm (525) - T14

Am I missing something here?

I think if I was in your place, sprocket off and needing to order another part, I might put one of those case savers on.

Case saver? One of those plate thingies that protects the case from the chain? Any recommendations?

So does that mean that Ducati Performance does NOT make a 14T sprocket that accomodates a fastening plate (like the one on my stock HM796)???

The shop told me that they do not sell it aftermarket, apparently they have it to be installed on new bikes.
I have now got one with from JT with the same number that el tardo gave.

What torque value did you use on the 2 screws that hold the sprocket?
Did you use thread lock?

Thanks
