Anybody Seen This One Before?
'08 HM110S has been at the dealer for a month and a half. They can't fix it and are baffled. Engine won't idle when engine oil temp exceeds 170 deg F. Ducti Analyser and CO probes used. TPS was off a few degress, that was corrected. CO trims are right-on the money. NO trouble codes. ALL sensors reporting normal.
Apparently, the verical cylinder drops out at idle, causing the stall. If the throttle is held even slightly, it runs fine. Plenty of power. They tried replacing the ignition coil for the vert cyl....it did squat.
Any ideas?

Do a compression check, (easy) can be low compression in one of the cylinders. Aloha Alex

Have they checked your turbo encabulator's ambifacient lunar waneshaft for side fumbling? Mine was way out of spec at the 7500 mile service which explained the sinusoidal deplenaration.

Perhaps the illudium Q-36 explosive space modulator is out of calibration.
Seriously, a friend had intermittent problems with his 1100S Multistrada a while ago, which included cutting out, rough idle. After much #$@!ing around, shop replaced the ECU which solved the issues.. Get the dealer to try a different ECU perhaps??

Also, check the semi-boloid slots of the stator.

Sorry, I couldn't help it.
To the OP, sorry bud. I've got nothing helpful for you.

As a degreed Electrical Engineer practicng for 20yrs, I resemble that remark. I appreciate the levity, and I'd be laughing myself, if it wasn't happening to me.
I rode the thing in nearly two months ago, and ended-up riding out with a new Multi S Touring. I know, never take a test ride...stupid me! Appraently, even the chief tech at the dealer doesn't know basisc troubleshooting methods...if the DDC doesn't give them the answer, they put up their hands and wait for the district service rep (on vac in FL). I suggested the ECM replacemnt, using the old bench tech method of freezing the suspected coponents (with Freon) to see if they can isolate it, etc. I think it fell on deaf ears!
If they didn't try to hose me so bad on the trade-in, I'd be done with the thing. Book on the thing is $8-9K: it's an "S" with only 5500mi on the clock, new Michelin Power 2CT's, immaculately maintained and kept with at least an extra $1k of Shift- Tech CF bits. That's in additon to the 2-2 Termi's and DP Perf Seat. They wanted to give me $5-6k. Unless I get my price, I'll keep it for that! I just have to get it fixed first! I was a foolish early-adopter: after drooling on it at the 2007 MotoGP at Laguna Seca, I had to have one. So I bought on one of two in the state in Sept '07...a demo, from a dealer that is now kaput. They hosed me for over $18k on the thing all-in because i had to have it and you couldn't get 'em. I'll keep it for that! I'm just stuck fixing it first.
I took it to the dealer so I wouldn't have to worry about it...ha. ha. ha, LOL!

This is what they are talking about. I never get tired off it. As an EE I'm sure you have worked on some Rockwell gear over the years.

The 08 Demo I rode had the same problem ( I still bought an 09 S). Do you still have the stock ECU or the DP? I still have my stock 09 ECU that never had a problem if you need to do some trouble shooting.
