About those Acerbis Dual Road handguards

I was contemplating the Acerbis Dual Roadhandguards for my HM796:

Acerbis Handguards

But the Acerbis website lists the HM1100 on the list of compatible Ducati models.

Anyone seen/tried them on a HM796?

I asked Acerbis support but got a pretty lame answer:

Me:

Could you tell me if the Acerbis 2140450001 Handguards are compatible with the Ducati Hypermotard 796 (smaller version of the 1100).

Acerbis:

That would be a good question for your Ducati dealer. We are not sure if it will fit, because we do not know what the differences in the handlebar, brake master cylinder, and controls are between the 1100 and the 796. I would ask your Ducati dealer if the setups are the same or different. They might be the same, as these handguards will also fit the Monster 696.

"We do not know"? Are they relying on Ducati to inform them that the products they sell fit the bikes?

I dont consider them to be very protective from anything beyond insects and wind. I put them on my S2R1k a year or so ago. Meh. Didn't care for the look, but helped with winter riding.

I would say, yes they should fit.

ciao fratello,

yes, these will fit the hypertard family. i have considered getting a pair and using them to replace the ones i have on my hypetard now ... the only issue i have with the acrebis units is that the LEDs are very weak ... a friend (conrad) has a pair of the acerbis installed on his super duke ... they look cool, offer good wind resistance (but not any real crash protection) ... and if i can figure out how to run brighter LEDs in them, i will get a pair from motostrano, down in redwood city.

hope this helps answer your question on fitment.

and hope to see you @ LDD2011 on october 9th.

ciao a presto,
johnc

The wiring was one of the issues since the guard is only held on at the bar end. Youd have to run the wires inside the hbar in order to make it look clean.
