heated grip install on a hyper

hey all,

i got a symtec heated grip kit for the hyper, i did a quick search, but couldnt find much as to where the best place to draw power from was. i dont want to start hacking apart my harness at the headlight, just to find out it would dim the headlight or something if i splice into that power wire. is there maybe an auxillary power wire? thanks!

i am running keyed power for my GPS and any other accessories i plug into the connector, from the vizi-tec suprabrake unit i had bernard (the owner/designer of vizi-tec) make for me.

if you email bernard, i am certain he can make the same power take-off modification to one of his suprabrake units for you.

btw, the suprabrake unit is one of the best mods i have made on the hypertard. absolute plug-n-play system (no cutting of any wires on the tard), that really makes the brake light visible to cage drivers ... plus, you get keyed power for accessories like your heated grips, if you ask bernard for it.

you can reach bernard @: Vizible Technologies | Home

disclaimer: i don't work for vizi-tec ... just a very satisfied customer, who has the suprabrake on both my ducs.

ciao,
johnc

For heated grips, you should run wires from the battery, preferably with the positive running through a relay that is triggered by your tail light, or something similar that will turn off when the bike is off. It's not hard.

i ended up using an extra power plug i found near the ecu. i clipped the oem connector and soldered in the grips, works like a charm, and if something goes wrong with the grips, the cuircut doesnt control anything critical, so i'll never be stranded.
