PC5 with Auto tune on 2008 1100S?

After searching a bit, I have not been able to find out if the Power Commander 5 with the auto tune module will work on a 2008 1100S with full Termi 2-1?

Dynojet says it was designed for 09+ SP models and did not test on 08 model.

Any ideas on how to find out for sure?

Just ask....

However, the 2009s and the 2008s share the same electronics so the PCv will work.

It's the 2010s and up that are different.

Hmmmmm. Something is fishy here:

Dynojoet's site list 07'&08 with PCIII only.

09&10 show PC 5 only.

Then they have a separate tab for Hypermotard EVO with only the PC 5 too.

I'm with you Dave. The 07/08/09 should be same and no change till 2010 model, right? So why the hell are they not able to give a solid answer? Makes no sense! I'm starting to think they screwed up by showing the 2009 model and PCV being compatible. I'm thinking it's only for the 2010, but I think I need to try to find someone a notch higher to speak with over at Dynojet. I'll keep trying and post up results either way.

Wish me luck (I have a feeling I'm gonna need it).

No luck needed. If you do a search, you will find what you seek.

I am childhood friends with Dusty Schaller, the Senior Product Manager at Dynojet. He is on this forum as "Dynojet Engineering".

I have already asked and he has answered this question. The PCv is compatible with the '07, '08 and '09 Hypermotard as is the PCIII. However, 2010 and up Hypers are only compatible with the PCv.

Additionally, since you are in West Covina, get with Alex (08Hyper), as he has the PCv in his 2008.

Essentially, you have a choice between the PCv and the PCIII for the 2008 and 2009 Hypermotards. However, I'm not sure why anyone would not spend the extra $$$ to buy the V over the III.

Hey thanks Dave! I appreciate the info.
I'm thinking I'll be able to eliminate dyno time and effing around forever with maps on PCIII by going with the PCV with the autotune module option. I've heard that autotune is pretty damn good. Some say- even better than many mapping geeks could do? We'll see.

I'll know more about it in the next few weeks as I am heading out to Vegas to see Dusty about the PCv and Autotune for my '08. He has some developement work to do and he is using my bike to finish it up.

While he isn't on here everyday (he's a busy guy), he does check in so you might hear from him on this thread.

Captain Nemo (Dave) is correct. PCV will work back to 08 no problem. When we released the PCV it was in 2009 and without going back and checking every bike again we just drew a line in the sand and said PCV units are for 2009 and newer. We say the PCV is for 2009 and newer GSXR600 also but it will fit all the way back to 2004.

Hahahaha........I knew it........Bastard....

We have known each other since we were kids. Our fathers were best friends at one time.

A long time ago, back in Connecticut, we were riding dirtbikes with a group of friends down at Thomaston Dam. We crossed over to the "forbidden" side of the railroad tracks and were riding a trail there that took us to a stream and sort of dead ended. The guy that was leading dropped down into the stream and started running upstream to another point of exit. Dusty was second, I was third.

We rounded a curve and it got a bit deeper, so it slowed the bikes a bit to bunch us up. Dusty ended up going to the right a bit of the lead guy, and I ended up to the right of him. Only, my line dropped another 2 feet deeper into the water and I submerged my YZ up to the handlebars. He had kicked up the silt on the bottom so I couldn't tell that it dropped down there, and well I paid the price, and I guess I'm still paying.....

We spent a couple of hours drying that bike out.

HOWEVER, it wouldn't have taken so long but Dusty, being the squared away guy that he is, proudly displayed his new fanny pack tool set up before we left the trucks. He told everyone, showed us what it had, even bragged about it to a point.....

.......then left it back at the truck.

At least he had a tool set up. None of had ever carried one before, but then, we always had tools at the truck too.

Dave
