09 hyper front fork ?
New to the hyper world but not to suspension tuning. Also new to the board, hello....
Picked up a 09 1100 standard and went to dial out some Preload manual says I should have 10mm to play with. When I turn the adjuster in or out nothing happens and then it stops turning but never comes up out of the tube to show any lines.. What's going on here??

Is it a Kayaba fork? I can't remember if the front forks on the base model are different from the 'S... I know one thing about Mine... When I pulled them off and took them to Race Tech here in SoCal, they remarked upon the fact that they were not Marzochis, but Kayaba.
EDIT: Thanks tkl999. Does the standard even have a ride-height link? So little adjustability, if they don't. Jacking up the rear ride height was one of the best things I did to Mine.

Kayaba's were on the 09 1100S not the standard. I have the 09 1100 non S model and it has Marzocchi on it.

Ben710 answered you.
Adjusting the preload wont make the adjuster come up out. It's all internal. So you will never see any lines like the ones you can see on conventional forks.
So the manual is right, preload is the most basic setting on a fork, and every 1100 Hyper can do it.
The manual is false when it shows lines... that part is not true.
Tho, in regard to the Hyper forks, the progressive springs are not the best.
Compression and rebound cartiridges are sealed, making any work in there impossible.

I think the 09 standard are Showa and not marzocchi, I had this discussion with my dealer and also someone on the forum corrected me, although they are the same setup as the marzocchi... Something liken that ....
