When removing stock mirrors...

When removing stock mirrors, what do people tend to leave on the hand guard? There seems to be more than one option. Remove entire hinge assembly? Remove mirrors only? Remove mirrors+pivot ball?

Curious before taking things apart.

I actually liked the functionality of the stock mirrors but they made the bike so damn wide......
At first I just removed the mirrors. Replaced them with some CRG Lanesplitters clamped to the handlebar just inside the handguards. A few months after that I went riding with a friend who worked at CRG and he had the new arrowhead mirrors. I had him send me a pair and they required removing the handguards. I made up a pair of simple brackets for some universal indicators and I've been happy ever since.
