Wednesday night the guys from "The Helmet Center" put on an event at Speedworld to support the family of a fellow fallen rider Travis "Mac" Washington. From the Helmet Center's post:
This event will not only be a celebration of his life, but a gathering of his friends and fellow riding community having fun and trying to raise funds to support this cause. While we can never bring Travis back for his little girl, we can help her have the educational opportunity he would want her to have.
I got off work and pulled the Ducati out for a once over and some preventive maintenance to ensure I would have a successful evening. All fluids were checked, air pressure adjusted, chain cleaned, lubed and adjusted..... then got all my gear together and loaded up. I got half way down the street and realized I had forgot my boots. Knowing TECH probably wouldn't allow flip flops I turned around and grabbed my boots....
I pulled in and got staged.....
Another once over the bike to make sure I didn't forget anything....
I headed over the registration to introduce myself and say hi to The Helmet Center peeps. Registration went smoothly and the different types of racing were explained to me. I decided to try "Bracket" racing.
I hit the tech table next to get my Tech Card.... I filled it out in full and then headed back to the truck to get geared up.
When I returned to the registration area after gearing up the bikes started lining up. Ted Rich brought out the semi and had numerous bikes for the evening. He even brought a couple of scooters to try at the bracket racing.
Registration was getting busy!
After tech I lined up at the registration area and waited for the riders meeting.
I went around and snapped random pictures of the participants and spectators.
