Subframe seat bushing install - edit as solved
I am doing a few mods to my Hypermotard and one of them is an aluminum subframe. In doing so I need to swap the rubber bushings for the seat to rest on, from the stock frame to the new one. They seemed easy enough to come out, but I can't seem to be able to get them to fit into the new subframe. I measured the holes and they are the same size as the stock, any ideas on how to get these in.
Just thought I would mention I did search the forum and the WD-40 trick didn't help, but I did use a step drill bit and made the holes a couple sizes bigger and with a bunch of cursing and pushing it finally seated in.

Yes they are tuff, I used a little bit of grease on the nipple & then pushed them in on the back side with the tip of a "T" handle allen tool. Aloha Alex

I'm getting ready to powdercoat my rear subframe in the winter. Is the seat bushings about the hardest part on removal/reinstall? Pic's? Thanks!

The best advice i can give you is to remove the fuel tank completely which will make the whole thing easier. The top bolts on the subframe have rubber cushions that sit on the ends of the bolt after the nut and are held on by snap rings and they are a pain to remove with the tank still on the bike. They seem to be just as hard to put back on as well. It can be done by loosing the tank, but I think removing it completely would have made the job a lot less of a pain for me. Ducati didn't make it easy. Oh and those seat bushings are ridiculous to get back in. I went with a black subframe and I like how it turned out. Hopefully it will go smooth for you, just realize it's a bigger job than it seems like it should be. What color are you going with?
