Hypermotard 796 advice please

Hi guys, well today I have placed an order for a hyper 796, can you guys please give me some advice and hints for where to start on mods please, I have looked at the SC Project 2-1 exhaust and wanted to know about the CAT and the O2 sensor etc, and also the best ECU. Thanks very much for any input, I go offshore today and my ride will be there when I get back.... can't wait.

Best mod for any hyper --> different fork springs and oil, maybe even an andreani cartridge. 2nd Mod would be the exhaust, you can pick just about anything, however, you will have to remap your ecu and the O2 sensors will always be there( since the new hypers have a siemens ecu). Remapping your stock ecu is cheaper than getting a DP ecu, unless you can score one on ebay for cheap.

Are you the British guy with the arm tattoo I saw down at the Thonglor shop today?

Congrats on the bike. I have a 796 also, and have put lots of mods on my bike. Probably the most on a 796 in Thailand. I have had mine since last November.

I had the termi 2-2 pipes put on even before I picked up the bike. I would start with the pipes.

Then I would remove that whole license plate assembly, and go with a California Cycle works license plate holder. I would buy one of those integrated tail lights that they sell on ebay so you don't need any blinkers (It is all part of the tail light). The mechs at the Ducati shop got mine to work perfectly (And for nothing) when I brought it in for the 1k service.

I would also ditch the stock brake levers with some other type. Plenty to shop around on those.

I would also get the Ducati Performance racing seat. The stock seat looks like crap compared to it.

I would also invest in some frame and axle protectors. Lots of different brands out there.

I would also buy a Star Carbon rear wheel hugger. Keeps the ass end of the bike a little cleaner, and looks good.

There are tons of carbon bits you can buy for the bike. It just depends how much cash you want to invest.

Send me a PM with your email, and I will forward you all the saved internet sites I used to order all my stuff.

Seat was a big one for me. DP comfort seat was a good buy. LV cat delete is prob the second best thing and this friday Im getting termi 2-2 put on so that may become numero uno. Pazzo levers were a good idea (shorties). Oh and shift tech rear hugger cuz it keeps your bike clean and workmanship is great.

I meant to say Shift Tech Carbon also, not star carbon.

Suspension

The weakest link on the stock bike IMO is the suspension. Unfortunately you cant really fix the crap stock forks. I put on the Andreani forks and its a completely different bike. Now it actually corners well. Its a bit of cash but worth every cent. Unless you plan on just riding it straight, all the engine / exhaust mods in the world wont overcome the suspension (or lack of).

Hey bro, with the LV cat delete, does that mean I can get rid of the CAT but still run the stock pipes until I get around to shelling out for a full system.

Yes, thatīs exactly what it means.

Plus, you only need a slip-on after you have the LV decat

Howdy,

I'm getting my HM 796 today and already making a list of mods.

Is the LV Cat Eliminator the best cost-efficient option out there?
Where's the best place to get one?

IMO you can not just do a LV cat Eliminator, some may argue with me but I had that setup on my bike for a good amount of time and I was never happy with how the bike ran. It needed a tune, and there seems to be a few options now.

I now have the 2 into 1 termi kit, not saying that's the way to go as it is rather expensive, but I am very happy with my decision.
