Motard Bars

OK, so I stripped all the guards, mirrors & turn signals off my '08 Tard, installing stalk mirrors with built in LED signals. I just like the cleaner looks & more functional mirrors.
My question is, the fork like protrusions coming out of the ends of the bars I'm assuming are part of the bars? I'd like to do away with them and put bar end weights on in their place, but I torqued the hell out of them with no success at removal?
Any tips, besides replacing the bars, or sawing off the lugs?

Hacksaw... Dremel... Saw off the bar ends.

That's one of the reason I replaced mine. I like to keep all my oem parts in good shape just in case I suddenly decide to sell the bike.

Other reason is that the stock bar is made of bubble gum, swapped it for a Pro Taper contour with Carmichael bend.
