Fixing the sponginess on the front brake on the Hyper

Well thought id post this in case anyone is getting the same feeling I had with my front brake on the Hyper. I always felt it was spongy and had an inconsistent brake action. I bled it death and used Motor RBF 600 but I still always had that spongy feeling with the stock master cylinder.
This is what I did I bought an R6 "R" M/C (years R6 2006-2011 or R1 2004-2011 are the good one) I then tapped into the M/C where the screw for the bracket goes and cut the wires for the brake signal going to it since the one on the hyper wont fit and put some push in connectors. Ur going to also need the appropriate banjo bolt for the R6 M/C. Its a different thread then on the Hyper. What I noticed on the hyper MC is that the banjo bolt has a smaller hole where the fluid passes and the threading is different. I think the sponginess is due to the smaller hole on the banjo, not too sure on this since I think they are the same bore. You can order a banjo bolt from galfer for a few bucks, just specify them its the banjo bolt for the R6 OEM master, they will know which one it is, oh and for a single line, not double.

The outcome is incredible, in fact maybe its a bit too much if not used to it but I personally feel at home again. You dont get that spongy feel from start to end. Its more of a quick firm bite then the slight spongy feeling. And the stock lever fits perfectly fine, in fact I believe the only difference between the two M/C is that the Hyper has that part for the screw to hold the bracket, a smaller suction tube and a different banjo bolt as far as thread and diameter or the hole where the fluid goes to the brake lines.

Seems like a cheap fix, I'll keep this in mind if the EBC HH sintered pads don't help.
I'm unimpressed with the Hyper (S model) brakes to say the least.

Its actually not that cheap. Many club racers use this Master on their bike and its become quite a popular master. On eBay thay go for about $100+ (when lucky) but if you keep ur eyes open you may get one for around $70 shipped.

05 R6 is the first year that used the master cylinder, not 06. It should be the same from 05 to present. I did this conversion on my 03 R6 and these are the best brakes I've ever used.

S model brakes are unimpressive??!! I really don't think you can get much more aggressive of a brake package than what you have. There have been several people that have low sided trying to trail brake, etc. because the brakes are so strong.

I don't believe you.

The S's Brembos are deliciously potent. Try bleeding your ish and twiddling those dials. Then try to repeat that assertion without feeling like a silly sally.

My dials are twiddled and the brakes have fresh fluid.
I'm going to try some new pads because on paper these brakes sound amazing, they just have yet to wow me. There's plenty of threads out there with different complaints about the hyper brakes, evidently silly sallies travel in packs.

Ur looking at the R6 "S" which is $115. The correct one is the R6 "R" which is about $224

I'll trade you my non-S brake calipers for your M4 Monobloc.
