Slip on ECU vs Dealer
So after hours of deliberation and reading on this forum I decided to install a Zard header to match my Top Gun slip on. To account for the removal of the O2 sensor and flapper I also bought a DP slip on ECU, part number 96519308B. Everything I read here made me believe that this ECU could be set up to eliminate both.
I got everything installed, loaded the Hyper in my truck and drove 90 miles to the nearest dealer. The TPS reset was easy but they could not clear the EXVL and O2 sensor codes. I told them of my vast knowledge of this ECU and that those could be "programmed" out. No luck. When I returned home I plugged the O2 sensor and flapper back in and the dash lights and codes went away.
Question is, did I not understand what I read (I reread after returning home so I don't think that is the case, but I've proven to be not so swooft before) or is this dealer just not knowledgeable enough to make the changes? Is this the kind of thing only a re-flash can fix?
All thoughts welcome....

I think you may have wanted the DP Full 2-1-2 ECU.
That is the flash I put to my stock ecu and I have no problems...
Thanks DucatiDiag and JP, viva la France!

That is definitely one solution. Guess I can watch the classifieds for one I feel like paying for. In the mean time I can live with the CEL or fabricate a stop bar for the flapper motor.

I believe that you can have your stock ECU re-flashed with a custom map. That was not always the case but within the last year or so the technology has been developed to re-flash stock ECU if they are in working order. They can turn off the flapper/O2 lights with an upgrade re-flash.

I didnt buy a new ecu, I reflashed my stock ecu using DucatiDiag Writer software. Total cost was about $180.
I did a write up on it on the SF board. So in essence, you can flash the slipon ecu to full DP status. OR if the ECU was not married to the bike, put the stock one back on, flash it, then resell the slipon ecu to make back some spent money.
Oh My!

I read part of that thread a few weeks ago and it does sound like a good option. I'll re-read it more detail this time. Thanks Gilly
