I'm about to install my third 6.4 gallon tank because of a spun insert. Kyle formally of BCM, now Seacoast had the idea of fitting a nylon washer on the shoulder of fairing bolts, but he hadn't tried it yet. On the current tank I was able to drill down at an angle from above into the lower fairing insert on the tank. I put a drift punch in the hole to hold it and the bolt released. I had both #8, and #6 nylon washers. The ID was good on the #8, but the OD is too big. On the #6, the OD was good, but ID is too small. I had to drill the #6's out it's a pain, but the #8 catches the fairing. Thank goodness there are only 6 shouldered bolts.
I screwed the sticking bolt back in with a washer on it, and was able to screw it on and off no problem. Seems to work!

It worked!
The new washer fitted
I took the fairing bolt fitted with the new shoulder washer, and tighten it until the the insert turned. The bolt still turned out. I have found like lawyer's and doctors, if Kyle suggest something to you it's best to follow his advice..
